Con solo seis años de vida musical, DIVINO SOSPIRO ha realizado una inmensa labor en el panorama musical de Portugal.
Desde su formación, la orquesta ha tocado en varios de los más importantes festivales y salas de conciertos de Europa, incluyendo Festa da Música y Días da Música en Lisboa, el Festival d’Ile de France, Teatro Nacional de São Carlos, Folle Journée de Nantes, Folle Journée de Japón, Varna Summer Festival, el Festival Mozartiana en Gdansk, el Auditorio Nacional de España en Madrid y el Festival d’Ambronay.

La grabación para Nichion Japan, dedicada a W.A. Mozart ganó el premio “bestseller” de Japón. “Los Divinos” como son coloquialmente conocidos en el ámbito musical Portugués, están muy bien reconocidos en Lisboa y Portugal, tanto por su cultura musical como por su curiosidad e intensidad en el enfoque y en la interpretación. Estas características, cada vez más pronunciadas, han llegado a ser en estos años una verdadera particularidad del grupo. Actualmente, el repertorio de DIVINO SOSPIRO no se limita solo al período barroco, pues han realizado incursiones en las fronteras con el periodo romántico, además de incluir algunos trabajos de música contemporánea. DIVINO SOSPIRO ha desarrollado una estrecha vinculación artística con grandes músicos tales como Enrico Onofri, Chiara Banchini, Christina Pluhar, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Maria Cristina Kiehr, Alexandrina Pendatchanska, Gemma Bertagnolli, Alfredo Bernardini, Katia y Marielle Labèque, Christophe Coin, Maria Bayo, Kenneth Weiss, Marc Hantai. A lo largo de los años, DIVINO SOSPIRO, cuyo director artístico es Massimo Mazzeo, ha visto aumentar continuamente tanto su repertorio como el número de conciertos. Con una gran y caleidoscópica variedad de diferentes ensembles desde trío de cuerdas hasta orquesta de opera, se presenta con asiduidad tanto en Portugal como en numerosos países del mundo. Actualmente, DIVINO SOSPIRO ostenta el título de orquesta residente en el Centro Cultural de Belém, Lisboa, donde en Enero de 2011 presentó el estreno mundial de la opera Antigono de Antonio Mazzoni. El grupo cuenta con la dirección musical de Enrico Onofri, que aceptó la invitación para ser director principal del ensemble. En 2011, el Ministerio de Cultura Portugués decidió patrocinar la orquesta en muestra de la relevancia y el valor del trabajo que ha hecho durante los últimos años. Desde su formación, DIVINO SOSPIRO ha tenido un papel esencial en la difusión del patrimonio musical portugués. Dentro de sus futuros proyectos destacan su primera aparición en el Festival Bargemusic de Nueva York, en el Varna Summer Festival de Bulgaria y en el Festival Mozart Rovereto de Italia. El próximo Septiembre han sido invitados de nuevo al Festival d’Ambronay. Enrico Onofri ha actuado en las más reconocidas salas de conciertos del todo el mundo con artistas como N.Harnoncourt, G.Leonhardt, C.Coin, C.Bartoli, K.&.M.Labeque, etc. La mayoría de los numerosos CDs grabados por E.Onofri (Teldec, Decca, Naive, Zig Zag Territoires, Opus 111, Astrée, Nichion, etc.) han sido galardonados con los más prestigiosos premios internacionales. Divino Sospiro, the baroque orchestra founded by Massimo Mazzeo, was born of the collaboration of gifted musicians and friends living and working in Portugal. During the time it has gained a reputation for having the highest standards in Early Music interpretation.

The group has an impressive list of performances to its name including appearances with the Folle Journée 2003, 2005, and 2006, a tour to Itály in which has received enthusiástic reception from both puclic and critics. Rreceived invitations from prestigious festivals and institutions like, the Early Music Encounters of Loulé, Leiria Festival, the Festival d’Ile de France in Paris (concert that was recorded by Radio France, La Folle Journée in Nantes, Lisbon and Tokyo where had obtained success beyond any expectation, the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos in Lisbon, Festival Varna Summer (Bulgaria), Fevereiro Lirico at San Lorenzo de L’Escorial and from the famous Festival d’Ambronay, where it was the first Portuguese orchestra ever invited and where the group was given the honour and the responsibility to play the closing concert of that edition. In May 2006 Divino Sospiro realized a tour to Tokyo. Following to this great result Divino Sospiro was asked by the Japanese enterprise NICHION and realized a Live recording of a concert with Mozart repertoire. This recording took place in Lisbon, at the Belém cultural Center, on November 11th 2006 and since its appearance in the Japanese market has obtained various goals included the “Bestseller” label. This recording has also been many weeks at the top of sells in Tokyo. Next activities include the opening of the “Sospiro” recording label in which the group will dedicate especially on the recording of Portuguese splendid repertoire from XVII and XVIII centuries. In the meantime Divino Sospiro performances have been recorded by some of the most important Radio and TV European channels such as Radio France, France Musique, Mezzo, RTP, Antena 2, and Mirare. Its reputation has brought with the opportunity to collaborate with some of the baroque music world’s most important artists. Since its formation it has appeared with conductors and soloists such as Christophe Coin, Katia and Marielle Labeque, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Chiara Banchini, Alfredo Bernardini, Enrico Onofri, Alexandrina Pendatchanska, Gemma Bertagnolli, Maria Cristina Kiehr, Vittorio Ghielmi, Marc Hantai, Christina Pluhar, Cenk Karaferya, Kenneth Weiss, Gemma Bertagnolli among others. Divino Sospiro is actively involved in promoting the pedagogical and musical education of music of the baroque period and recently sponsored master classes given by the eminent baroque violinists Chiara Banchini and Enrico Onofri in collaboration with the Escola de Música do Conservatório Nacional (Music School of the National Conservatory) and the Belém Cultural Center in Lisbon. Activities reforced with master classes of Rinaldo Alessandrini, Enrico Onofri, Alfredo Bernardini and again Chiara Banchini, Alberto Grazzi, Vittorio Ghielmi, Maria Cristina Kiehr, Gustav Leonhardt. Following this educational orientation it is to be stressed the invitation made by the Rectorate from the Evora University in order to open the course for master degree in early music interpretation in collaboration with that music department. Recently Divino Sospiro took parta at the “Mozartiana Festival” in Gdansk (Poland) performing the Handel Messias through Mozart’s version. Also in this occasion the performance of the group was received with great enthusiasm by public and critics. Future compromises include the US debut, at the Barge music Festival in New York and at the Mann Centre in Philadelphia, making Divino Sospiro the first Portuguese orchestra ever to appear in those cities, as also as its appearance in important festivals such Namur, Utrecht, Shangai, Seul and finally at the conceptual Festival d’Ambronay where Divino Sospiro returns after a great success obtained a few years ago. DS is currently the baroque orchestra in residence at the Centro Cultural de Belém (Belém Cultural Center) in Lisbon and is regularly conducted by Enrico Onofri, whom which the ensemble has developed a precious and continuative artistic relationship.[/EXPAND]

Enrico Onofri was born in Ravenna, Italy. While still a student he was invited by J.Savall as concertmaster of La Capella Reial, and also performed with such ensembles as Concentus Musicus Wien, Ensemble Mosaïques, and Concerto Italiano. He has been concertmaster and solo violinist of Il Giardino Armonico since 1987.

E.Onofri has performed in the world’s foremost concert halls alongside such artists as N.Harnoncourt, G.Leonhardt, C.Coin, C.Bartoli, K.&M.Labèque. Many titles in his extensive discography (Teldec, Decca, Naive, Zig Zag, Winter&Winter, Opus111, etc.) have received the most prestigious international prizes. Since 2000 he has taught Baroque violin and Baroque performing practice at the Conservatorio Bellini in Palermo. He is regularly invited to give masterclasses in Italy and elsewhere in Europe.[/EXPAND]
